July 9, 2008, Letter to a Friend

The problem is the fact that we can never pay back what was priceless to begin with. That is, we can never DO enough. We will NEVER read our Bible enough, pray enough, give enough, etc. IT WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH. Why do we have faith that He can save us, but then think that He expects us to work to remain in a right relationship with Himself AFTER we are saved? God expects us to experience victory in our Christian walk by trusting, not trying. We may have tried to improve ourselves to become victorious, but God never asked us to do that. He only asks that we trust Him and let Him transform us. But if we keep taking the same wrong approach we've always taken, we'll get the same defeating results. You've heard the definition of insanity - doing the same thing again and again expecting different results. That's why we will never find victory in DOING - it comes by TRUSTING and RESTING in Christ.
